Our School - Overview
Welcome to Baulkham Hills Selective High School.
Our school has an extremely strong and proud culture of excellence in all aspects of a student’s education.
Baulkham Hills High School is a leader in gifted and talented education and also experiences outstanding success at major sporting and cultural events, including those at international levels. It provides numerous opportunities for students to develop individual interests and cultivate talents through many and varied extra-curricular activities.
The school provides a values rich education which is acutely demonstrated through its leadership programs, as well as in every classroom and in the playground. Staff, students, parents and community members cite examples such as;
- Work is challenging and all students participate through encouragement, appropriate modelling, a system of self-discipline, reflection, substantive communication and teamwork in a context of high expectations.
- Social support is strong and there is a high level of multicultural friendships and support groups. Students share facilities with the consideration of others in mind and demonstrate accountability for their own actions.
- Social conscience is highly developed and well respected. The students consistently strive to give back to the community and work with a large variety of charitable organisations. Currently a group of students are designing some modified materials for quadriplegics at the Royal Rehabilitation Centre.
- Teamwork and co-operation are evident in all activities. Students feel their opinions are valued, listened to and acted upon as appropriate. Respect and responsibility are important to our students as values that typify the school.
The students at Baulkham Hills High School work within a framework of security, confidence, self-development, social justice, procedural fairness and our motto “PERSEVERE” demonstrates the determination with which our students go about achieving their very best at all times.
Staff members at Baulkham Hills High School all complete a special training course in gifted and talented education to ensure students have every opportunity to reach their full potential. In this way, our staff lead the way with local, accountable, quality and excellent education for gifted and talented students.
Our parent body is an integral part of our school community and their numerous and varied contributions are greatly valued. We encourage all parents and community members to participate in school activities as much as possible.
Our secondary motto is “EVERY DAY’S A GREAT DAY AT BAULKO!”
This is most certainly true.
